The Subversion of Higher Education: Origins, Analysis, Recommendations.

This book is produced by Lulu Enterprises, and was released for sale on 3.01.2011. It is comprised of eight chapters, and 360 pages of text, plus reference list and subject index. It surveys changes in higher education in the last generation, with the focus on Britain and New Zealand, but many other countries are also referred to. There are also several historical sections, describing the origin of the modern university concept. While sharply critical of many recent changes, the recommendations made are in no way an attempt to turn back the clock. Suggestions are made, both in terms of an overall philosophy, and in more detail in each of the main chapters, about how the original post-Enlightenment concept of universities can be reinvigorated, and adapted to the contemporary world.
